Itinerary

Hotel or Nile Cruise Pickup

  • Your Aswan private-guided tour begins with pick-up from your hotel, Nile cruise ship, or Aswan Airport in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle. Your Egyptologist guide will accompany you throughout the day, sharing fascinating insights about the region’s history, culture, and ancient monuments.

High Dam

  • Start your Tour to the High Dam — a modern engineering marvel built to control the Nile floods, provide water for agriculture, and generate hydroelectric power. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Nasser, the world’s largest artificial lake, and hear about the massive relocation projects of temples during the dam’s construction.

Philae Temple

  • Continue to the Philae Temple, one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt, dedicated to the goddess Isis. To reach the temple’s location on Agilkia Island, you will board a scenic motorboat ride across the Nile, enjoying views of the surrounding river and rocky islands. Your guide will lead you through its courtyards and sanctuaries, explaining the legends and stories carved into its walls. The temple was relocated here from its original home on Philae Island to save it from flooding caused by the High Dam’s construction. Its serene island setting and intricate reliefs make it a highlight of Aswan day tours.

Unfinished Obelisk

  • Next, visit the Unfinished Obelisk, an enormous ancient monument left partially carved in Aswan’s granite quarries. Learn how ancient Egyptians extracted and transported these massive structures, and discover why this obelisk — the largest ever attempted — was abandoned due to a crack in the stone. This stop provides fascinating insights into the ancient stone-carving techniques that shaped Egypt’s monuments.

Optional Stop – Aswan Local Market

  • If time allows, your guide can take you for a quick stroll through Aswan’s colorful local market, famous for its spices, herbs, and traditional goods. This is a great place to enjoy a taste of local culture and shop for authentic souvenirs.

Return to Hotel or Nile Cruise

  • Your Tour to the Unfinished Obelisk, Philae Temple, and High Dam ends with a comfortable transfer back to your hotel or Nile cruise, leaving you with wonderful memories of Aswan’s iconic landmarks.
